Swap compact flash units and CME

I know that you can cold swap a compact flash unit in a router. I want to upgrade to 256 MB.

Have backup the startup-config file to c: via FTP that was on NVRAM

Old (existing) CME and IOS is on flash:

Upgrading to CME 7.1 (basic) with IOS 12.4(25d)

Do existing phones in CME 3.3 become deleted or get killed off in process of upgrading CME as there doesn't appear to be a way to backup the settings for these?

What are the individual files for CME 7.1?

And what is the easiest way to upgrade the compact flash?

Have read a Cisco article Upgrading System Memory, Internal Flash Memory, and Boot ROM in Cisco 2600 series routers but it stopped short of compact flash upgrades and unfortunately my external flash drive slot0 appears to have malfunctioned.

Thanks in advance again

Recently during during a maintenance window one of the voice routers I was working with experienced flash failure so based on my experience this is what I shall do:

1. Make sure you have startup-config back up on a  tftp/ftp server

2.copy the iOS to a ftp/tftp server

3. Copy any moh file or any image file that is used as a custom background on the phones are backup to ftp/tftp server

4. Replace the flash and copy the same iOS and MoH files to the flash

5. Reload the router
