Last week Our Cisco CP 7821 phones two of them, developed some faults, the screen just gets lights up and without it loading up the firmware, the handset RED light comes up as well. But the phone does not boots up.

All forms of reset has been done.:

> Tried hard reset, Removed the handset from the cradle, tried resetting with Pound Key # there after 123456789*0#.

> Tried Unplugging the PoE cable, waited for a min before plugging it back, Still yet it doesn't boot up just lights up and nothing gets done...What other options can I consider here...Help please.

in old 7900 series phones, there was another reset code, which is >> 349 167 2850 *#
then must upload firmware through tftp to phone using a TFTP app..

did you test using this ?

Thanks for pitching in.

1. in old 7900 series phones, there was another reset code, which is >> 349 167 2850 *#   ------- I have tried it before, still did again, nothings changed.
2. then must upload firmware through tftp to phone using a TFTP app.. ------ Can you ever get a phone IP without it booting up?

Kindly note that nothing shows on the screen, the phone screen just lights up and that's it.

Any further help would be great on this thank you very much.

Hi dear @otfavoured

about reset code >> 349 167 2850 *# >> it will do "full-hard-reset-factory" on your phone..
it means everything on the phone (firmware+config+etc..) will be deleted and wiped out

in this situation, you must power on the phone using direct adaptor power (POE will not work)

and you dont see anything on the screeen of phone (but phone is alive and waitng for getting IP Address + Firmware..)

so, do this steps:

while press and hold # >> power on phone using adaptor +  do >> 349 167 2850 *#

then connect phone with cable to network (direct to PC // or // to a switch)

run a TFTP app (for example >> Tftpd64 is a good one)
+ set DHCP pool + set option 150 or 66 for TFTP point to your laptop + set TFTP folder location (where firmware is existed there)

and see log status of your app.. phone must try to get IP, then it try to get Firmware..

after this process, when Firmware installed on the phone, screen will show cisco logo and boot up as normal..
