Hi experts
I am facing a issue with the Migration of one of my customer from 5.x to 8.6
It has been observed that when during the migration we point the DHCP scope from 5.x to 8.x by changing the IP address for TFTP to point to new cluster.
All the phone come up properly but the 7940 IP Phone get stuck in configuring IP,
I checked there should not be any issue with DHCP as we have plently on IP in the DHCP Scope , We are using the default CUCM load for 7940 firmware
Any support is appreciated .
Regards
RC

You may need to upgrade the firmware on the phones to a newer version before they can pull the files on the server. Check the version of firmware on the phones and compare it with the one on the server - you may need a two step upgrade.

Hi,
Best way to move this forward is to get a packet capture from the back of the phone and attach it to the thread. Also if the firmware is too old for the 7940 (firmware 7.0 or lower) you might not be able to jump to 8.1.2 on a single step.

If st all possible check phone firmware The couple replies here are correct I had issues with older phones and sometome you need to go to 8.5.2 them from there the newer firmware will donwnload

Sorry forgot link to packet capture 7940's and 60' will start the packet capture automatically.so you dont have to enable span on port
