Cisco 7941G SIP Configuration Unprovisioned Can't Configure SIP Settings

So after buying what I now realize is a very old phone, with a lot of links to dead tutorials, I finally managed to install the SIP firmware, yay!

However, I am stuck and would really appreciate some help.

I am trying to connect this phone to VOIP.MS and they have some instructions that appear to be just too darn easy. Here's the link.
https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Cisco_IP_Phone_7940/7960

The problem is, first the phone displays a message on the bottom that says "unprovisioned" and when I go into the SIP settings, I can't actually make any changes.

So it's clear to me that I need to load in some kind of configuration file or something, but I can't find any real details how to actually generate one.

When logging into the webconsole (just going to 192.168.1.2)

Under status messages it says:

8:56:55a File Not Found : ram/XMLDefault.cnf.xml
8:56:55a File Not Found : XMLDefault.cnf.xml
8:58:59a No Trust List Installed
8:59:29a File Not Found : ram/SEP001FCA3572FD.cnf.xml
8:59:29a File Not Found : SEP001FCA3572FD.cnf.xml
9:00:00a File Not Found : ram/XMLDefault.cnf.xml
9:00:00a File Not Found : XMLDefault.cnf.xml

9:02:34a File Not Found : ram/SEP001FCA3572FD.cnf.xml
9:02:34a File Not Found : SEP001FCA3572FD.cnf.xml

So how do I generate these files? Thanks in advance!

Is the phone loaded with 8.X firmware?

I want to recommend upgrading to 9.4(2)SR3.

I've installed the following version.

cmterm-7941_7961-sip.9-3-1SR4-1.zip

I also tried a later firmware version, and the menu system was the same.

I think I need to load in a configuration file, but I don't understand why I can't just do it from the phone itself.

79XX do not support 3PCC/MPP firmware.
The only way to configure the phone for non-Cisco call manager is to do it manually.

How do I do that manually?

You will need to prepare several items:
1. TFTP server;
2. DHCP Option 150;
3. A known working SEPmacaddress.cnf.xml file;
4. A known working Dial Plan file for your region; and
5. The firmware (ZIP) file
