Cisco 7970 IP Phone SIP firmware to SCCP on UC520

Hello all,

I run a UC520 at home and have recently purchased a couple of used 7970 handsets. They are currently loaded with SIP firmware (http://imgur.com/e5qxU8P)

I am trying to upload SCCP firmware so I can use them on my system however have spent hours trying to do so with no luck.

I don't have the passwords to unlock the config on the handsets to point to my windows tftp with sccp phone firmware on it, have tried both password and cisco. I did a soft reset (#...123456789*0#) on one phone to try and reset the unlock config password and the phone now shows the circle with a dot and doesn't boot at all, no settings accessible when button pressed (http://imgur.com/fWD3y7r) . I wasn't keen on doing a hard reset incase it bricks the phone or makes it harder to fix.

I tried downloading SCCP8-4-1 firmware files, put them on a pumpkin server on my notebook but couldn't get it talking to the TFTP. I have also tried uploading SCCP .cop files to the uc520 box via CCA but got an error message (http://i.imgur.com/aJ77Qbc.png?1).

I would really like to get these working, if you can help I'd be happy to pay for assistance (hope this doesn't violate Cisco Community terms).

Cheers,
Craig

Hello Craig,

Factory reset is a good way to go here. To insure phones will load the new sccp load, please make sure the following are applied:

1. DHCP is configured with option 150 pointing to your tftp server, which is the UC520 itself.

2. sccp load files (not the cop file, but the unzipped ones) are uploaded to the flash properly (you need to configure tftp alias commands if they are not on root directory).

3. To add the same load name under telephony-service, and apply (no create cnf) then (create cnf).

Afterwords, reset the same phone while turning on the following debugs:

deb tftp packets

deb tftp events

We are here to assist each others, so no need to pay :)

If you have difficulties in applying the previous steps, we can arrange for quick teamviewer session.

Thank you,

Shadi
