Cisco IP Communicator sends port as '0'

RAVIKUMAR J K

Hi All,

Hope someone can point in the right direction, I have some users with CIPC installed on their laptop and they work from office.

Audio stopped stopped working a week back out of nowhere.

Call conencts and once received we do not hear anything both side.

Did wireshark on user PC and clearly see that CIPC says I will listen on UDP port = 0 which is strange.

If we see ? statistics everything shows up as 0. nothing sent or received on both the sides.

Suspected antivrus(SEP) and disabled, uninstalled no luck.

Disabled windows firewall and checked , no luck

Reinstalled cipc no luck

uninstalled windows patches , no luck

This is not on the WAN traffic and all local and no firewall.

From CIPC problem report below is what I see is taht it fails to open up rtp channel saying ' unable to find reserved port '

Hi Ravikumar, we're experiencing a similar issue. Did you ever determine root cause or resolve this issue?

Hi,

yes, we were abl to resolve, this was due to few windows kbs pushed recently. If you need kb numbers let me know.

Need to uninstall, reboot and reinstall to resolve.

Ravikumar, thank you for the information. Yes, please provide the KB's you've identified. Did you uninstall the KB's or uninstall/reinstall the CIPC application to resolve this issue?

Hi,

These are the KBs which make CIPC audio to not work.

Uninstall if you find any of these installed, reboot and reinstall them. Check one by one.

KB4041691

KB4034658

KB4038782

No need to reinstall cipc, but I would recommend to be on latest if you are using windows 10.

Thanks

Ravi
