Hello everyone,
I've some Cisco IP Communicator devices configured on my CUCM 10.5.
Every CIPC is identified by device name (SEP<MAC ADDR OF THE PC>). So when I open the CIPC software, CUCM doesn't require any kind of authentication.
I would to set user login authentication (Active Directory account) for my CIPC devices, so when an user open CIPC it require username&password.
I've already configured AD informations (I also use Jabber with user authentication and it works well) on CUCM.
How can I do it?
many thanks
Piero

It cant be done with CIPC. The closest you can do if you are desperate is to use extension mobility. The user can launch the CIPC but it wouldn't have any line etc. unles they logon to their profile using the Extension Mobility PIN.

Hi,
Terry is spot on to the answer, that's the best you can do. You may assign a line to CIPC, but may not allow CIPC users to call outside ( only internal ) and configure the extension mobility only for the users who are allowed to use CIPC and call outside, They can open CIPC and loging to EM and use it.

As Terry and Amit have mentioned, that's not possible (and you can actually use any device name and login as any device, given that you know the right device name configured in CUCM), however, you can do things like EM-SSO, see some options here
