Hello all,
I have question regarding the voice quality when using Cisco IP Communicator.
For a SiteA, we do not purchase EF (Gold CAR). And users who use Cisco IP Communicator are without problem. Voice quality is fine.
When this SiteA changed the WAN provider (same bandwidth), the issue detected. Those users cannot use Cisco IP Communicator due to poor voice quality.
My question:-
1. what ports are use by Cisco IP Communicator?
2. EF (Gold CAR) must be purchase for Cisco IP Communicator users location?
Appreciate your comments and share how you deploy such kind of service.
Thanks.
Regards,
Christopher

Hi Chris
most of Service Providers when they provide you with Gold service for VOIP ( priority ) they policy the traffic to the amount of bandwidth allocated to the site/link ( some of them mark it down ) so you need to check this point with SP
about marking IP communicator traffic you will need to use some ACLs to match TCP signaling and UDP/RTP for media/VOIP traffic and mark it using class-mpas and policy maps
for more details and config guides see the bellow link

Hope this help

If you are already having necessary ACLs matching EF traffic with RTP ports, then QoS for IP Communicator is already taken care. If you are doing this classification w.r.t Voice VLAN, then you need to configure additional QoS to match RTP traffic from Cisco IP communicator as it is from Data VLAN.
