Cisco IP Phone shutdown and power up after 1 hour

I have an issue with IP phones in one of the remote site. Not all the phones, but some phones go power down and power up after exactly an hour. While comparing the configuration of working phones with phones which have issues, I can see 802.1x Authentication under Product Specific Configuration Layout is User Controlled for non working phones, and enabled for working phones.

While going through CiscoSysLog, I get the reason code for EndPointUnregistered event is 13 which is a KeepAliveTimeout.

I've changed the 802.1x setting and asked the user for monitoring the occurrence of the issue, i am yet to get a response from them.

Before I see an help on this topic, I am curious to know if any one has experienced similar kind of issues before.

CUCM Version : 8.6.2

IP Phones : 796X

Look at the switch logs: did it errdisable the port, have an 802.1x failure, or something? There are only a few things that would cause a phone to power off: the switch shutting down the port for some reason (eg port security), hardware fault, PowerWise though that only puts the phone to sleep, or the display backlight off but again that is only power saving and not entirely off.

Yes, correct. The switch error disable the port, make the port shutdown and recover after an hour (errdisable recovery interval 3600).

Below are the switch logs. Thank you in advance if you have some solution to test/apply.

i don't think the phone powers on/off. I believe what is happening is that keepalive is lost and the phone resets trying to reregister.

As John mentioned you need to look at the switch logs. Start with sh authentication sess to see if your phones are using dot1x or not.

Also, sh logg will help you to see what error is talking place (Assuming your buffer logging is enabled)
