Cisco IP SoftPhone 1.3.4.0

I'm attempting to us the IP SoftPhone on a Win7 x64 bit as a SIP phone not attached to a handset with it's own extension.  The CME is version 8.1 hosted on a 2901 router.  I have created the extension and profile for a SIP connection but the SoftPhone will not effectively communicate with the CME.  There is no firewall, that has been disabled.  Any insight into getting the SoftPhone to effectively communicate with the CME would be deeply appreciated.

Do you mean you're using the IPC??
