Cisco Phone Firmware

I am currently CCNA certified and am working on voice with the view to taking certification this year. I have setup a test CUCME 7.1 environment with a mixture of 7900 series phones. The system is based on a 2821 router with aim-cue. I have a working SIP trunk and a PSTN connection. Voicemail also works. The system resides in its own voice vlan.

My question concerns the firmware loads. Can the phone loads be upgraded whilst leaving the CUCME version the same.

Yes.
Copy the files needed to tftp-server and change load parameter accordingly.
