I have a client who is looking to hang several analog devices off of each port in a VG224... does anyone know what the limitation is? I fear that it will not have enough ring voltage.
FXS Analog Voice Port Maximum Distance
The maximum distance is established by a total allowable loop resistance, including the phone or terminal equipment, of 600 ohms.
I think you are looking to find what Ringer Equivelance REN) the ports on the VG224 supports
"NOTICE: The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this terminal equipment is 1. The REN assigned to each terminal equipment provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices does not exceed five."
You will need to find the REN value from your phone/fax/modem spec and calculate whether you will go above 5

Thank you for the information, so from what I understand, each FXS port supports any combination of analog devices as long as REN does not exceed 5. Correct?
