Hello, I would appreciate some sort of suggestion for this inquiry----currently, we are using sort of a 'FLOOR MATS' for the handicap clients who needs to make a call to Switch board. They come on the top of a floor mat (using wheelchair) and press a button on speaker phone type of device. This device dials a number for the switchboard for them and from there they can ask switchboard to connect their calls to whatever......
I am planning to replace the 'floor mats' to VoIP technology. Does anyone know if there is something out there that can provide me similar functionality (hands free calling) for handicap users? Does Cisco have anything?

Natively within CUCM you can leverage something called PLAR (Private Line Automatic Ringdown) that basically functions in this manner... if you go off hook, such as by pressing the speaker phone button or pick up the handset it automatically dials a number.
Which version of CUCM are you and do you have analog or straight VoIP deployed?
There are multiple 3rd party devices out there that give you the ability to single button push dial similar to what you described or like an emergency phone you often see in Parking Garages..Look at Talkaphone or other similar companies.

Appreciate your response...yes I am familiar with PLAR configuration. However, users still need to pickup the handset if I use PLAR. We are more looking into one button push method for our clients. We are on ver 9 CUCM right now.

With PLAR you can run it so that just hitting the speaker button on a phone, single button, you can trigger PLAR.

Hello Andrew, I would appreciate if you can give some details or direct me to a link which explains about configuring speaker button on Cisco phone to dial operator number? Thanks for your help

Would this be an analog or voip device and have you setup PLAR before?

Yes you can do this with cucm or cme. CME has built in PLAR configuration feature. For CUCM you can configure PLAR equivalent as per below document.

Thank you for your answer.....however, I am more looking into one button push operation (no handset involvement).

Check out Viking call boxes. They have IP based units that register into CUCM. Box can be installed on the wall or via a pole mount. User pushes the button and it completes the PLAR offhook internally. Can be directed to someone acting as an operator of sorts to transfer the call to the number verbally conveyed. There units can also be configured to dial a pre-configured number on its internal processor.
