Clustering over WAN to Centralized CUCM

Hi,

I am looking for some documentation on:

a) Adding new subscribers to the cluster

b) Going from Clustering Over WAN to Centralized Model

Currently Setup:

HQ:            2 nodes (Pub, Sub1)

BranchA:    2 nodes (Sub2, Sub3)

BranchB:   1 nodes (Sub4)

New Spare Servers: Sub5, Sub 6

I would like to add 2 new nodes (Sub 5, Sub 6)  at the HQ site and have the phones at BranchA register to these new nodes. This would free up Sub2 and Sub 3.  I would like to then move one of the freed up Branch A servers (Sub2) to the HQ site and move phones from Branch B to this server.

Does Cisco has any documentation on adding new subs to the cluster AND on centralizing the cluster.

Thanks

Shu

Hi Shu,

You didn’t mention which CM version you are on.

The procedure differs a lot between Windows and appliance versions.

Assuming you are running an appliance version, the procedure is detailed in the Release Notes for your particular version eg.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/6_1_2/cucm-rel_note-612.html#wp474634

This above URL will contain the steps required when removing/readding a node from your cluster.

Hi Kurt,  This is an appliance version, 8.0.3.

Any documentation on procedure/considerations for moving SUBS  to the central site.

Thanks

It depends how you've configured your cluster.

Most of the time, the phones in Branch A are put into a specific device pool.

Just create a new device pool for Dub 5 and 6 with the proper CM group (Sub 5/6), location, region ...,

then assign the phone in Branch A to that new device pool, then reset the device pool.
