CME 11.5 files

I am using CME 11.5 and I registered sip 7811 phones to it and operating well without installing CME files so I want to know what are the benefits of CME files

Hi,

the version of your CME depend of the IOS version of your router.

Then, the file CME11.5.tar can upgrade your CME version without upgrading your IOS.

With this file you've got access with phone template, music in hold file etc...

You only need to extract this files on your flash.

show telephony-service

show voice register global

two commands in order to see your CME version.

I upgraded the ios to upgrade CME version 

Then I don't need CME files for ordinary use of calls ?

You don't need that if U upgrade your IOS and if you've got the good CME version.

A little correction here -
Then, the file CME11.5.tar can upgrade your CME version without upgrading your IOS.

You cannot upgrade your CME version without upgrading the IOS. The more version dependant files are for GUI. MOH, TCL, B-ACD, rings, wallpapers will work on any version.

Yes, for sure the only way to use tar file cme11.5 is to install in your flash: what U need specificaly on this version. 

But tthe way to upgrade from CME 8.6 to CME 11.5 is to upgrade the IOS router.

Then, U don't need anymore the tar file.

In term of being specific

The only way to upgrade CME version is to upgrade you IOS router.

See the matrix between CME version and IOS.

Nevertheless, if you have the cme tar file with a version upper than your cme version....for example you have cme 9.0 due to your router IOS version....on the other hand you have the cme11.6 tar file....you can use files on this tar for your cme feature...music on hold, ringtones etc....but it's not an upgrade of your cme 9.0.
