CME 12.1 + 8800 SIP = Understanding usage of the "Create profile" command

In working with TAC, after making changes I am advised to enter the following commands.

voice register global

no create profile

create profile

Which I am told forces the system to rewrite the phone config files after make template and phone config changes. 

My question is = Why doesn't IOS rewrite the phone config files whenever it detects a change to the phone config? Does it do it on recurring schedule instead? Trying understand this so I don't have enter these commands every single time.

You will have to enter that command every time you make a phone relevant change to push the config to the XML file. Once the phone resets, it will get the updated config file and your changes will take effect. IOS does not do it recurring or dynamically. It is only relevant when a change is done and it perfectly makes sense for the admin to do it only when a change is done.
