Hi,
I'm aware that conference call internally only works with G.711. Since we have two sites that uses different device pool in which the Region configured to used the is G.729 codec and the conference call is not working unless a transcoder is configured. Just for clarification, does a CUCM really requires an external resources such as a Cisco router for the transcoder for the conference to work with different codecs, does it not support build in transcoder from the CUCM only for the conference call to work without using external resources.
Thank you

Possibly an even simpler solution is to stick your conference resource in a device pool associated with a region that you set up to use G711 to. this would drastically simplify things.

How can I configure my conference resource to just use G.711, thank you

Easiest way is to make sure that all the endpoints and conference bridge are in the same region with the intra region codec set to g711.
Lets say the region is region1, make sure that the codec between region1 and region1 is always g711.

There is no such thing as a "built-in transcoder" in CUCM, CUCM does not provide that feature, if you need an XCODER, you need to have it on an ISR with PVDMs, if you don't want to do that, you would need to do as Dennis says, and simply use G.711 for this to work.
