Hello
I am heaving folloging issue
I have couple of CP7970G phones. I need to download latest SIP firmware. But when I am trying to find firmware on the download page I see 7965 7975 but not 7970.
Firmwqare for other models does not load.
Please advise how can I find it.
Thank you.

The 7970G and 7971G firmware files (and for that matter the 7920G wifi phone) seem to have become orphaned from the 7900 series support pages.
I tried to contact Cisco by phone and email to report the problem with the website, but was told it was because of the EOL announcement on the 7970G. This makes no sense to me given how long ago, say the 7940 went EOL, but you can still get to their support pages. It seems to me that the placeholder for the 7970/7971 has gone missing somehow. (See orphaned links below where the files are unfortunately unavailable at the moment.)
I think it would be to the benefit of Cisco and all users if this could be fixed. Unfortunately I don't have a support contract on a 7970G, so I couldn't raise a case.
Perhaps someone with an appropriate entitlement could nudge someone in Cisco's web/support team to reinstate the links/downloads, as the firmware was recently updated in Feb 2017, and existing users may need older versions for stepped upgrade or to convert back to SCCP say, after using SIP firmware etc.
The (broken) firmware links for 7970/7971 are as follows for SIP and SCCP, although the handset itself has disappeared from the 7900 series support link.
SIP: https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=278436620&softwareid=282074288&release=9.4(2)SR3&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
SCCP: https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=278436620&softwareid=282074289&release=9.4(2)SR3&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

The problem is that firmware itself is avaliable in CUCM 11.5 device pack(last update February 2017) but not as separated firmware.
I would appreciate if that would be fixed so far.

This is a real shame as I think it is more of a simple problem with the downloads website than anything else, (see my links above), and as you say the device pack contains the same firmware, but requires a different entitlement.
There are also circumstances where specific (older) firmware might be required which would normally be available and is still available for much older handsets on the downloads site.
I've found it hard to reach anyone in Cisco's web support team, to help them resolve what might be an issue for them and all their users to do with their website, rather than raise a ticket for the support of a specific handset. Open to suggestions!

I wish that we could just find the right person in Cisco who understands the website - the 7920 configuration and firmware files have also got orphaned under "products" with the broken download links:
https://software.cisco.com/download/type.html?mdfid=278040707&catid=null
Seems like the 7970 and 7920 sub pages have got incorrectly linked under 'products'.
Please, anyone that is affected by this, please feel free to provide website feedback under 'broken links':

WTF Cisco!
The bigger the company the less is the support, like Microsoft, Intel, Cisco etc.
Your issue does not give us millions of dollars...ok well...then shut up an buy 200.000 new phones...then you could service from us.
I am kicking all the 7970G phones into the trash and never ever will buy or use something from this company for my company.
Not replying even after more than 2 years is such a shame.
Shame on you cisco!
