Hello cummunity.

We where using Cisco 2921 in the past as standard Router model for our BRI/PRI connection for our locations in europe.

Now because of German Telekom and rest of Europe ;-) will skip ISDN and will use SIP we have to define new standard router model.

We already define that we need internal power and some amount of modules, but now we need to know what router model we have to use because of SIP connections.

I found following link for CUBE:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/unified-border-element/data-sheet-c78-729692.html?cachemode=refresh

We need do know what "Maximum SIP Trunk Sessions" means ?

Are this SIP calls over SIP Trunk coming from provider for example ?

What about RTP connections's ? Does this depend on the bandwith ?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Christian

Hi Christian

Refer to below.

Link Summery:

Table 9-10 provides capacity examples for a few platforms. This table shows the maximum number of SIP trunk sessions, which corresponds to the maximum number of end-to-end PSTN SIP-SIP calls. It provides limits without media and signaling encryption and limits with RTP/SRTP interworking, where traffic is encrypted inside the corporate network and not encrypted for the connection to the SIP service provider. For information on other platforms and for more detailed, information including required amount of DRAM and flash memory, refer to the Cisco Unified Border Element Data Sheet and the Cisco Unified Border Element and Gatekeeper Ordering Guide, both available at

Hi JB,

just want to to confirm so this “maximum session sip trunk” is have a same meaning with concurrent call? So for example we have  20 concurrent call at the moment is that mean we use 20 session SIP trunk? Is my understanding correct?

thank you and warm regards.

SIP sessions means SIP calls and/or more specifically audio. It's dependent upon the platform. Further, you would need to purchase RTU licenses for these sessions. PID being FL-CUBEE-X (X denotes the sessions) -
