CUCM 10.5.2 Configuration

Dear Experts,

Am configuring Cisco IP Phones 7942G and 3905 on CUCM 10.5.2. The message am getting on the screen of the 7942G is ''Host not found'' and 3905 is showing ''registering/provisioning''. Have tried reconfiguring the phones differently by changing parameters but still get back to this point.May an expert conversant with this kindly help as I am a new hand in IP Configs.

If you're using hostname for the servers, make sure a valid DNS is supplied.

the phones require the same network config any PC would need, plus the TFTP.

make sure you have already configured the phones in CUCM using their MAC address

In addition to Jaime's excellent post, you could also try to replace the hostname of the servers with the actual IP address if you aren't using DNS or are having issues.  Which "parameters" did you change?  Something on the CUCM like below?

System -> Enterprise Parameters -> Phone URL Parameters

You will see something like :

HOSTNAME:8080/ccmcip/authenticate.jsp

Change this to:

x.x.x.x:8080/ccmcip/authenticate.jsp

With x.x.x.x being the IP address of your CUCM.

I'm guessing the "Host not Found" is when you press the services button on the 7942.  Do the 3905s have DNs assigned to them?  They won't come up until this is complete as they are SIP phones and that is the big difference between a SCCP and SIP device for registration purposes.
