CUCM 7.x delay to H323 Gateway

Guys - I have (what I thought was) a very straightforward set up:

1 x site

1 x CUCM 7.0.1

1 x H323 gateway.

I am getting a delay (approx 12 seconds)before called party phone rings when making outbond calls to pstn via h323 gateway, however, this only occurs after a period of inactivity.

Passing subsequent outbound calls shortly afterwards results in normal calling behaviour.

I have ran DNA and routing looks fine and there doesnt look to be any interdigit timeout or ghost gateways in route list (symptons occur even when setting explicit route pattern to the gateway).

Debug on the gateway shows the delay at CUCM as the call wont hit the h323 gateway until after delay period.

I have ran some traces and notice the "wait" lines which look to be related to the delay attached.

Couple of things to try:

On the gateway:

interface Serial0/0/0:23

no isdn overlap-sending

ON CUCM, there is a service parameter for Callmanager for overlap sending that is on by default - turn this to false.

You more than likely have a wildcard or overlapping dial plans on your gateway which delays the call. 'show dial-peer voice summary' will help.
