Does anyone have any successful experience with iPhone integration with CUCM.
Currently running version 7.
If anyone can provide some step by step doc that would be very much appreciated.
thx.

Here's all the information you'd want on CCO - you read about the various capabilities and etc. using the links from the main page. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7271/index.html

The iPhone CUMC client does not support Presence - I suspect the lack of multitasking support in the iPhone may be the reason for this.
It is also worth noting that CUMC does not include SIP client functionality on any platform.

Hmm... not sure if that's right.
As far as I know,
1) CUMC supports rich presence (with CUPS). The only limitation is you cannot send IM between CUMC client and CUPC client.
2) CUMC does include SIP client functionality. But it's used for signaling (call-control) only. It does not have media control.

Just noticed it in the CUMC release notes - iPhone 3G,3GS do not support presence.
I am still confused as to whether or not this really supports rich presence. I was reading the release notes for CUMC 3.x earlier - and it said that the client couldn't even display whether a user was in a meeting or on a call - instead it just shows Busy. So does the CUMC client really allow users to put up customized presence/status messages?

Oh... sorry, didn't notice you were discussing iPhone.
Ya, CUMC on iPhone is kind of "special" and has many limitations. e.g. it does not support rich presence.

Hi Michael,
My answer was based on the CUMC data sheet at:
In Table 2. Platform Feature Availability presence is not ticked for the iPhone platform.
My comment re. SIP was not clear - I meant that you cannot use the iPhone on a WiFi network as a Cisco handset.
To be honest I have not used CUMC on the iPhone platform and am just quoting from the datasheets. Am happy to be corrected if you know differently.

So back to my other question - WM and Blackberry support true Rich Presence? I would be able to put in status messages, or get means of contact for other users? Or is it just a simple Available, Away, Busy?

Yes, on WM, Blacberry and Nokia (Symbian) phones, CUMC supports rich presence.

Re: SIP, you can use iPhone on WIFI as a 3rd-party SIP endpoint. It
requires a SIP client installed on the iPhone. So, it's not native but
can be done in some form. I wrote a blog series with Bill Bell on 3rd-
part clients however i don't have the link offhand.
