We have MCS 7835-I2 server installed with CUP8.6(3)
However now we decided to install CUP 8.6(4) on the MCS7825-H3 server, my question is how much storage require for the bridge upgrade on the live
MCS 7835-I2 server.
Cisco recomendation is 2Bridge support only with <4 GB RAM and < 145 GB HDD. Full support above these values. Does that mean we need minumum 145GB HDD for the bridge upgrade OR anything less than w145GB will be ok
Current server has storage
Size: 70006 MB

Why do you need a bridge upgrade to CUP 8.6(4)...This is a mino rupgrade from 8.6(3) to 8.6(4)...A bridge upgrade is only needed if your hardware does not support your intended target version

Hi Aokanlawon,
As I mentioned above current server MCS7835-I2 has only 70GB storage, we have spare server MCS 7825-H3 with 2x160GB HDD and 4GB RAM so thought install CUP8.6(4) on it.
Plan is
Bridge Upgrade current server from 8.6(3) to 8.6(4)
Take the back up
Install fresh 8.6(4) on the MCS 7825-H3 and restore the backup
What do you recommend?

If you want to install on the new server..Your best bet is to take a backup of current version..install 8.6(3) on new server, restore backup and then perform upgrade to 8.6(4)..

Hi Aok,
This is another hazard we dont have bootable media of CUP8.6(3) because we upgrade that server from CUP7.x I have bootable media of CUP8.6(4) but dont have CUP8.6(3)

Hi Aok,
Yes you right I should not use word Bridge Upgrade here, as this hardware MCS 7835-I2 is supported for 8.6(4) However problem is current server doesn't have enough storage. So plan is to install the fresh CUP8.6(4) on the spare server
We also dont have bootable media of CUP8.6(3) otherwise I would probably install this on the spare server restore the data and then upgrade to CUP8.6(4)

In that case I am sure you should be able to upgrade to 8.6(4) on the present hardware and then do a backup from there...Then install asplanned on the new server

Hi Aok
So is that mean 70GB will be enough to upgrade to CUP 8.6(4) on the present hardware?

Muhammad,
You are right you can only do bridge upgrade on yoru current hardware...I just looked at the release notes now...
NB: Your New server wont support 8.6(4) either because it requires 6GB memory or anything above 4GB.
