Dear All
I am currently implementing CUCM BE with 8 sites, we are using site codes because some sites have overlapping extensions and those sites dont want to change. My question relates to corporate directory. Currently, I am not using ldap but the native directory within CUCM.
For my scenario, users from site A has to dial site code 400 + ext number (4 Digits) to reach site B, and site B has to dial 380 + 4 Digits to reach site A.
In Corporate directory for e.g. site A and Site B displays the 4 digit number only. How is it possible to insert the 400 before the 4 digit when it dials to site B and vice versa and keep it to 4 digits when users dial only local ext, i.e site A to Site A, similar for B.
Any Help would be much appreciated.
thanks

If you are using the native corporate directory then there is no way to only show 4-digits in the directory and prefix a 3-digit site code when dialing the entry. You would need to store numbers in the directory with the full 7-digit number. The alternate approach is to use a custom directory application where you can handle prefixing in the application itself. A custom directory would require some scripting on a web-based application.
HTH.

I would say the bottom line is that if you want to dial a number, and reach the person you intend, then you have to disambiguate (is that a word?) the number you dial to start with... as you do when you apply a prefix.
It follows that if you want to dial from the directory and reach the person you dialled, the directory number needs to include the prefix.
Therefore your numebrs in the directory need to be the full 7 digits; this applies whether you use an external directory, or simply configure the telephone number field within the CM directory to contain the full directory.
Bear in mind that the directory telephone number field is not linked to the actual extension number assigned to phones. It's ideal when a dialled number from the directory reaches the intended person (and many will complain if they don't), but the system neither checks nor enforeces it.
In your scenario, you can have four digit extensions, with a translation pattern dialling between sites.
Your directory (as a global resource) just needs to contain the globally diallable number - the 7 digit number. You need to make sure that the translation patterns are available to make this work in all locations, even when dialling 7 digits to reach someone that would normally be reached by dialling 7 digits.
Hope this helps
