Dial peers used in h323 voice gateway to route the calls
Route patterns used in callmanager to same thing

then why are we using both for same purpose?
what si the difference between dial-peer on gateway and router pattern on cucm ( in case of h323 )

ipphone----cucm----call hits the route pattern to route to particular Gw------hits the gW and match incoming and outgoing going dialpeer to route the call to PSTN----------PSTN

because they are separate voice component and call control
callmamanger is where the phones registers and send the call to the H323 where the PSTN E1 for example connected

phone dials 1234 ---- CM ----route pattren for 1234 point to the h323 GW ---- GW dial peer send 1234 to PSTN ---

when call hits the route pattern to route to particular gateway, then it matches voip dial peer or pots dial peer on that particular gateway
