dial tone delay on a cisco ip phone

Hi Guys,

I have strange issue, users intermitantly get delayed dail tone when they go off-hook and delayed response when they answer a call.

We have the CUCM v8.6 located at a Central Data Centre from were all the  other site connect over IP WAN , we have QOS queuing for WAN.

Can I get assistance to dig deep into this problem & troubleshoot as this is intermitant.

Hi Oliver.

Does the issue happen in all your sites?

If you ping the CUCM from voice vlan where the issue happens, which is the response time?

And also, what kind of Qos did you apply between sites?

Remember that signaling protocol is marked by default as CS3.

As Carlo suggested look at latency as that is the most typical culprit, in addition check your CUCM utilization to make sure the CPU is not running high.

Hi,

Just to re iterate what Carlo said , seen this many times and its nearly always down to the Call control traffic not being marked correctly.

Easiet way to check is wireshark any call and see if you can see the correct marking on the traffic.
