Customer has 4.X. we are going to migrate and install version 8.0(2) on new servers, (6 in total) looking at the DMA notes, the latest DMA version is for 7.(1). So If i collect DMA File from 4.x and load onto version 8.0(2) server, will it work? or do I need to be on 7.1 first and then upgrade ot version 8.0?
I assume I only need to run DMA on the Publisher?

Hi Support,
There is no direct upgrade path between any 4.x CCM to

From this excellent doc;

You would have to complete a "two-hop" upgrade to 6.x or 7.x as an intermediate step as you nicely noted
FYI - many people are holding off going to CUCM 8.x due to the number of bugs.
Cheers!

Thanks Rob,
It was just as I suspected.
I have also seen that 8.0 has not been the success, that Cisco hoped for, but I thought 8.0(2) was more stable. Is that not the case? I wanted to avoid 8.5
as it was early days on that release

Hi Support,
You are most welcome my friend
The 8.0(x) builds have been pretty sketchy as is the nature
of most if not all .0 builds. I would not move towards any 8.0
version. The consensus on these boards seems to be that the
most stable current build is 7.1(3b)su2.
I would give the 8.5(x) version at least 45-60 days on the market
to see how things are working and for Cisco to release any ES's
for initial critical bugs.
Just my thoughts.
Happy Holidays!
Rob
