Do Cisco IP Phone 7942 come with head phone or which third party head is best to use with 7942 IP Phone

As described in the data sheet, it does not come with head phones. You have to buy your own. The most popular brand is Plantronics.

Hi Bala,

The phones do not come with Headsets sadly. We use many Plantronics corded models like the H-91, H-101, **H-171's. The one part you will need which is required for all "corded" Plantronics Headsets (to go from Headset Jack on 7970 to "Quick Disconnect" on Headset) is a special Cord (shown below);

You may want to look at a great new method of using Wireless Headsets that Plantronics and Cisco have developed that work with the 7942/7945, 7962/7965 and 7975 IP Phones only so far. The Plantronics HHC adapter enables hookswitch control and ***ring detection for CS50, CS55, CS60, CS70, CS70N, CS351N, CS361N and V510S wireless headsets, eliminating the need for a an HL10 lifter.)

With the use of an Adaptor Part # APC-4 (called the HHC Adaptor) which plugs into the Aux Port on the base of the phone allows calls to be answered and disconnected via the Headset without the use of the Lifter!

You can't believe how well this new setup works :)

Rob, this below URL post says H-91 have not work with 7940 models, could you please confirm H-91 handset will work with 7942, it is hard time to order Handset.

I can confirm that the H-91 will work with the 7942 :) We have at least 50 of these in service. Here is the Plantronics Compatability check verification;
