DSP for FXO

Hi All

We are currently under a talk on hardware requirement for a new site. There is a backup router in the site which would be used only for 911 calling if the mail router fails. For routing the call we got NIM-FXO. My question here is do we need a PVDM for the call or the one which comes with the card; DM8147 is enough ?

The DSPs coming with the card should be enough for making calls.

You don't need PVDM for FXO. PVDM only used for T1/E1 module

This is incorrect statement, FXOs and FXS do require DSPs just like T1, however the newer NIM modules for ISR4Ks come wit sufficient PVDMs for the FXO card and no "additional" PVDMs are needed.  This was different on ISR G1 and G2 routers were the FXO cards did not come with PVDMs.  So, in short you need PVDMs (DSPs) but you get them with the module.
