E1 Failover between 2901 and 2600

Hello,

I have 2 E1 outputs from my Alcatel 4400 PBX.  One goes to a 2600 and the other goes to a 2901.  They then get fed down separate fibres to our data centre where they enter another 2901 and 2600, exit on E1 to a VoIP server (2901 primary, 2600 secondary).

The 2901 is our primary route with the 2600 there as a backup. Our Alcatel can detect a fault at its end which then automatically switches over to the 2600.  However at the datacentre end if there is a fault with one of the IP servers there is no failover taking place.

I have a 2 channel wic card in both routers and was wondering if I can link both together.  If the router detects loss of service or a problem it routes upto the other router which then goes to the backup server.

Is this possible? - If so, can someone point me in the right direction?

What is the protocol on the voip leg?  Do the voip side routers point to different destinations?  Normally you could connect them and have preferences set (assuming identical destination-patterns), the default preference of "0"(highest) on the voip DP and a lower preference (1-10) set on the p[ots dial-peer pointing to the circuit to the other router.  Dial-peer hunting should do the rest.

At the moment I am trying to set up a redundant link between 2 routers via IP.  The 2 channel E1 card is for the remote end which I'll work on later.

I am working on 2 voip servers that each have their own router.  I have a 2901 and a 2600.  The gig ethernet 0/0 on the 2901 is connected to a direct fibre which goes to another 2901 (10.0.0.52) and the gig etherhet 0/1 is to another network that the 2600 is in.  The 2600 only has 1 network port (10.11.0.50).

I have the following on the 2901:

dial-peer voice 4 voip

destination-pattern 4...

session protocol sipv2

session target ipv4:10.0.0.52

session transport udp

voice-class codec 1

dial-peer voice 8 voip

preference 1

destination-pattern 4...

session protocol sipv2

session target ipv4:10.11.0.50

session transport udp

voice-class codec 1

So with that configuration the dial plan works spot on down to 10.0.0.52 (gig ethernet 0/0) but I would have thought that if I unplugged that port it would have gone to the voice 8 plan which is down the ethernet 0/1 port but it doesn't - The call just sits and eventually hangs.

I can ping 10.11.x.x from the router and vice versa

Hi All,

Making progress.  I have my above post sorted.  I had to change the sip-ua timers and now it works perfectly.

I am working on the other end now which I have decided to do the same as before but the difference with this is that it uses session protocol cisco instead of sipv2.  The failover works fine but when dialling a number the call sits for 17 seconds before passing onto the next preference.

Can anyone advise on any isdn timers that would speed this up? (adding sipv2 will not be possible due to issues that I won't go into at the moment)
