Error: Maximum number of attendant consoles when attaching a single 8800/CP-BEKEM to 8861

Hello,

I am a little new at this. I am setting up a phone system with Jive using 8861 phones. I purchased a 8800/CP-BEKEM to attach, but when I do, I get a message on the 8861 that says "Error Maximum number of Attendant consoles." Nothing is displayed on the 8800. This is the only attachment to the phone (this is the one and only BEKEM). I have tried powering up/down several times. I have re-set firmware to factory default and get same error. The configuration under "Attendant Console Status" says that all units are "Unit Enabled: Yes"

I am using firmware sip88xx.11-2-3MPP-398

My router is an Adtran netVanta 1238

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this!

Tim

What's the value of "Number of Units" on the device webpage at this location:

http://ipaddress/admin/advanced

Voice -> Att Console -> General -> Number of Units.

Also check the KEM type is selected as BEKEM.

Thanks.

The Number Of Units was zero; feeling a little stupid :) !  It was set to zero. By default it was set at 3 I believe and I assumed it would stay there, but I think the Jive software was turning the Number of Units to zero. The KEM Type was correct and I was viewing that from the phone itself but didn't notice this extra config for the number of units.

Does it have to be set for the exact number of BEKEM's? Could I just set everyone's phone to be 3 even though most don't have any and the ones that do only have 1? Would that cause a problem?

Now I am getting an error that the handset cannot power the attachment so I guess I am going to have to get a power supply now. Was hoping to avoid that, but no such luck!

A HUGE thank you for setting me right. I spent a lot of time digging around for that!

You can leave it at 3. It shouldn't be a problem.

For the PoE issue you can try setting the PoE power required to maximum and see if it helps. If not using direct power would work.

Go to Voice -> System -> Power Settings -> PoE Power Required -> Maximum

Thanks.

I have to keep re-setting the "Number of Units". It keeps resetting to zero when I am moving the phone around and disconnecting and reconnecting power/network.

Is there a way to make this permanent?

The config pushed by Jive probably has this tag set to 0. You will have to talk to them to either remove the tag from the config xml or set it to 3.
