Exporting IP phones from CCM 4.2(3) and Importing to CUCM 7.1(3)

Hi,

How do I export IP phones and user information from CCM 4.2(3) to CUCM 7.1(3)? I need to preserve DN, User, Speed Dials, etc.  My CCM 4.2 (3) BAT tool version is 5.2(3a). We stood up a new CUCM 7.1 cluster. Because the flash-cut option is not available (>17 K phones), I am doing a gradual migration of IP phones and gateways in order to upgrade from CCM 4.2(3) to CUCM 7.1(3). We will be migrating phones based on device pools, sub-nets, and CCM subscribers.

Thanks in advance,

Nelson

You'll need to use the All phone details option from the export in 4.X.

Then get one also from 7.X.

Once you have them you'll need to compare the files and add all the new fields the 4.X file will be missing as plenty of them are mandatory.

Once you have added the required fields then you can import that file into 7.X

You need DMA(Data Migration Assistant). It backups your ccm 4 db and then, during cucm 7 install, you'll be asked whether you want to migrate from previous ccm, aftert what you need to provide db backup you've created with dma.

DMA export is not an option because I will be migrating users over site-by-site basis.  Migration is done over a span of 3 months and there are a lot changes from the time I use the DMA tool.  DMA only allows me to do it just once during the initial installation of the new publisher.
