No special config is needed, as it works same as a phone.

Dear Paolo,

Can you confirmed me the configs are correct.

FXS card:

voice-port 1/1/3

description ***>FAX

station-id name SiteXXX_FAX

station-id number 6375

caller-id enable

FXO Card:

voice-port 0/0/2

timeouts call-disconnect 3

timeouts wait-release 3

station-id name ITSP-line

caller-id enable

For Outgoing Calls and FAX.

dial-peer voice 3 pots

destination-pattern [2-9].......

incoming called-number .

direct-inward-dial

port 0/0/2

forward-digits 8

no vad

You don't need station-id commands when caller id is working.

Hello Paolo

Thanks for your reply.

My fax machine number will be 12346375.

Can you explain me how the incoming/outgoing fax will be delvered to FXS card on number 6375. I have a 4 port FXO card on my router.

voice-port 1/1/3

description ***>FAX

station-id name SiteXXX_FAX

station-id number 6375

Hi Clark,

Can you share your running-configuration with us.

dial-peer voice xxx pots

destination-pattern [2-9].......

port 0/0/2

!

I assume the xxx dial peer is for out going (the FXO port)

dial-peer voice yyy pots

destination-pattern 6375

port 0/1/0

!

the yyy dial-peer for FAX device.

!

create translation rules for incoming and outgoing like (called number) /^12346375/ /6375/ and (calling number) /^6375/

/12346375/ and apply in under dial-peer xxx and yyy

Try this working or not.

Regards

Selvarathnam

There is no need for translation rules with the OP scenario.

My fax machine number will be 12346375.

Can  you explain me how the incoming/outgoing fax will be delvered to FXS  card on number 6375. I have a 4 port FXO card on my router.

The above line is of Clark White.

Answered above already.

Dear Paolo and Nadar

Thanks for the reply,

I have some questions for my understanding please reply.

  • I Have 2 lines with number given by ITSP 12345677,12345678 i connected those to FXO card and from those FXO port i configured  connection plar so the incoming call is routing directly to the FXS  port where the FAX is connected, instead of 1 to 1 mapping suppose if i have 20 users then what will be configuraton.
  • As mentioned above i have 2 lines 12345677,12345678 I have used 12345678 for fax but sometimes the Fax receive by the receipeint seen the number as 12345677 and sometimes 12345678, i want the fax number to be seen by other corporates as 12345678 only.

Thanks

FXO cannot receive the called number (no DID support), for that you need a digital circuit, or SIP.

In other words with an analog line you cannot do better than 1:1 for mapping to fax.

Dear Paolo,

I am very new to CVOICE, so please bare with me to make me understand.i have some general questons below not related to fax.

I have read before in Cvoice book that there is no support for DID on FXO port but say

  • for ex: i have  20 users working in a coporate and corporate has 2 lines, then there must be a operator in the corporate to transfer the calls for the desired extension of the caller. is it my thoughts are correct???
  • so if i have 2 lines for my corporate then the internal users will be seen to PSTN users by any of the 2 no's lines         (12345677,12345678) but not always by the same line. is it my thoughts are correct???

Please correct me if i 'm wrong.

1. Operator or AutoAttendant.

2. For lines in hunt-group, telco can make so that for outgoing calls, caller-ID is always the pilot number.
