I have an FXO card that will not forward calls. The outside phone line has been tested and is working and the FXO card has been changed. Once the call hits the port on the FXO card the calling party hears a ringtone, but no IP phones at the location ring.
This port is set with connection plar opx. If you change to connection plar (no opx) the calling party hears one ring, and then a busy signal when the FXO card picks up the call.
The voice-port in question is 0/2/2.

You are using MGCP, so how is CUCM configured for this line? Is CUCM configured to control the FXO ports?
07-14-2011 12:49 PM
FXO is setup in CUCM as a gateway and the ports are conifgured as endpoints in call manager (Version 7.1 - which is a recent ugrade).Call Mangaer is configured to ring two lines at a remote location by calling ext. 84540

Next question, can you do a debug voip ccapi inout and then do a term mon in your telnet screen.
Make the call again and if you see data, the call is getting from CUCM to the gateway.
If you get data, then debug dial-peers events. If the incoming number from CUCM is not matching a dial peer, then you know your issue.
Also check to see if your FXO are in fact registered

Okay. Debug is showing data when making the call and and the number does match a dial peer.
But, the port in question is not registered in CUCM. Port 0/2/3 is showing as registred and does work correctly.
How do I register this port?

I could be getting my versions mixed up, but it may show unregistered, which is fine. Can you clarify the call flow? Im thinking that you cant use the FXO and should use a FXS port. To me, if you are using PLAR with FXS port, you are making an IP phone call a number which sends the router. Router picks up the , picks the dial peer, hits the FXS port, takes the analog phone off hook. There should no ring, or one ring. I have used these in the past for door openers, or analog speaker device.

To the best of my knowledge the call flow goes like this or should: You call an outside number and it comes into the fxo card through port 2 via direct pots line and then transferred to internal call manager extension 8540. This extension has two IP Phone devices associated - and both phones should ring.
The most irritating thing is port 0/2/3 works exactly the way I want port 0/2/2 to work. They look to be setup the same in callmanager and I have had the voice ports set the same but that didn't solve the issue either.

If Im reading this correctly, you have a shared line on this number correct? Im wondering if the shared line is affecting the PLAR at the other end.

Hi Mike,
I have run into your situation once before. The way I got the port register was basicallly to wipe out everything and rebuild.
Try deleting the gateway --> delete MGCP config --> delete mgcpapp dial-peers -->rebuild
Kind of a hassle but it worked for me.
Regards,
Don

I have been thinking this is what I need to do as well. I'll work on it next week and let you know how it went. Thanks guys.
