Headset issues with 7942's

I am trying to connect a Plantronics HW261N headset to a 7942 deskphone using a Plantronics adapter. I assume it should be as easy as connecting the headset/adapter to the back of the phone, but apparently not. There is no sound coming through the headset when its connected. The headset does work however if I connect it to the handset port. So, is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed/enabled???

Hi John,

Yes, that cord is the wrong one here's a link;

The Plantronics A10 Direct-Connect headset cable is for call centers that use both Plantronics Polaris brand headsets and amplified headset solutions like the M12 or M22 Vista combined with any h-series headset (e.g. H251).

The A10 adapter cable allows for Plantronics standard H-Series headsets (e.g H251 SupraPlus) to be connected to direct-connect telephones (equipped with A10 compatible RJ9 (smaller version of RJ11 modular jack) port).

  • Flexibility and inventory reduction - agents can be issued one headset as they move between both types of phones.
  • Amplifier not required.
  • Plantronics Part Number: 66268-01
  • The following list of telephone manufacturers offer phones with built-in A10 compatible RJ11 headset ports. 3COM, Comdial, ESI, NEC, Nortel Networks, Toshiba, and SciTec.
  • Replaces Polaris Cables 27190-01

Hi John,

We use tons of Plantronics here on Campus, so I'm sure we can figure this out

When you say Plantronics adaptor are you referring to an M12 Amplifier? If so, that

is no longer required as the 7942 Headset port has a nice built-in amplifier.

The one part you may need which is required for all "corded" Plantronics Headsets

(to go from Headset Jack on 7942 to "Quick Disconnect" on Headset) is this cord;

Part#Amp-26716-01

Hope this helps!

Rob

Hey Rob,

No M12 Amps here. We are using Plantronics A10 Headset Cable (description from CDW order), I'm not sure of the exact model #.
