We recently migrated by import/export voice mail from old 5.x Unity server to Unity Connection 8.X server.
What is the proper way to decommission old 5.x Unity server?
Is it simply running the Cisco Unity Uninstall Utility? How do I remove the references in Call Manager?
Are there documentations on how to do this?
In the Cisco Unity Uninstall documentation, it says
Removing Locaiton Objects Manually
WARNING: If there are other Unity servers installed in the directory, Do NOT remove any location objects, just leave them there. You run the risk of removing the wrong location object (one associated with another Unity server) which will render the other Unity server(s) inoperable.
I don't see an option for that. If that is the case, does it mean it will automatically remove the location objects? When it talks about other Unity server, does it mean Unity Connection as well? if so, how do I uncheck it so it will not affect the other servers.

Is the server in your corporate AD? If so you may want to remove it from the domain, then remove SCCP ports (if using SCCP port) or SIP trunk (if using SIP) from CUCM as well as if you still have hunt pilot/hunt groups/line groups pointing to it and voicemail profile/pilot (assuming you did not convert them or UCXN). That's about it, there is nothing to worry about on the Unity server, simply format the drive and re-purpose the hardware if desired.

Yes, the server is in the corporate AD.
I don't need to run Cisco Unity Uninstall software? What about references from Cisco Unity Connection server?

No, if you are decommissioning it why would you uninstall it?
What reference on UCXN? Are the 2 systems integrated, if not there should be no reference.
HTH, please rate all useful posts!

I thought Unity 5.X server leave references in Active Directory and ties to exchange server where as Unity Connection has its own database and things?

Yes, that is correct.
So, you may want to remove the AD service accounts used for Unity integration as well, but leaving them does not hurt anything.
