We use Call Manger Version 7.1.2 with various 79xx phone on the network.
One of our customer complains of Hot Levels.
Is there any way to pad down the Hot Audio Level coming from a device?
Thanks in advance for replies.

javalenc,
Yes, Hot levels are audio that is loud, too loud for comfort.
Coding done these modern days usually handle (prevent hot levels) this.
Once the audio which begins as an analog signal (voice) is coded (pcm/g.711/etc) there is no worry about the signal level
as it traverses an digital network.
I am not sure about all the ways a hot/loud analog level is coded to produce an acceptable received audio level,
but it is usually sufficient.
It may have to do with the microphone sensitivity. If the microphone is too sensitive, it will rapidly saturate the input signal
and be too HOT and even distort.
As you can tell, I do not know accurately the technical aspects of this, but as well I am not too far off base either.
This is the first complaint I have had about HOT levels over VOIP and suspect there is little known about this as VOIP/IP technology
and mostly handled the problem, thus little is known when it re-occurs.
Thanks for your reply and any further input you may have.
