Inbound calling Translation Patterns

Hello everyone,

Situation.  All inbound calls are showing up as +1XXX-XXX-XXXX in the directories for Missed and Received calls. WHen a caller wants to dial one of those calls back it works fine if it was long distance call but if it was a local call it fails with a message from the PSTN "You do not need to dial a 1 blah blah blah".  I seem to recall a way to manipulate al inbound calls from a certain area code to show up in the directories as xxx-xxxx.  Can someone point me in the right direction on how to go about that?

The best way to address this problem is actually on the outbound gateway. You want to strip off the 1 for calls that have the area code of that particular gateway.

For example, if the local area code for the gateway is 919, you would create a Called Party Transformation Pattern of +1.919[2-9]XXXXXX with a DDI of PreDot. Place this pattern into a partition and create a CSS with that partition in it. Apply this CSS as the Called Party Transformation Pattern CSS for outbound calls on the gateway in question. Make sure you uncheck the box that says to use the Device Pool CSS.

The added advantage of this approach is that if someone decides to dial the call as a long-distance number, the transformation will take care of removing the 1.

What you can do is build translation patterns for each site to match local area codes, for example consider area code 608, which you need to dial as 10 digits, your TP would be

+1.608XXXXXXX, strip PreDot, prefix 9 (assuming you are using 9 for off net access code)

Then the CSS applied to this TP would have access to Route Pattern that matches 10 digit dialing, i.e. 9608[2-9]XXXXXX
