IP Telephony : Can we use same VLAN for voice and data.

Hi Team

I have a doubt that in IP telephony environment, Can we use the same VLAN for VOice and DATA.

For example :

If I am using vlan 2 for data, so it may use for voice as well ??

After the IP phone has received power, it must determine which VLAN is it in. Because of security risks associated with having data and voice devices on the same network, Cisco recommends isolating IP phones in VLANs dedicated to voice devices.Separating voice and data traffic using VLANs provides a solid security boundary, preventing data applications from reaching the voice traffic. It also gives you a simpler method to deploy QoS, prioritizing the voice traffic over the data.
