Is Unity Connection 8.x able to support 20,000 with a single Server (Publisher)

Hi,

I understand that CUC 8.x support 20,000 users per cluster.  Does this number go down to 10,000 if you only have one server?  i.e.  Is a single server able to support 20,000 users?

Thanks

James

Hi James,

It was 10,000 max (per server) in Unity Connection 7.x. This number increased to 20,000

with the release of Unity Connection 8.x;

Cisco Unity Connection is scalable to 250 ports  and 20,000 users per server. Refer to the Cisco Unity Connection  Supported Platforms List for details at;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/supported_platforms/8xcucspl.html#wp777117

From this Data sheet;

Cheers!

Thanks Rob

I just wanted to add to Rob's response by pointing out that you can support up to 20k users on a single server based on the platform overlay.  This is specified as "per server" but with a Unity Connection cluster, the addition of the second node does not double user capacity.  Your question was specifically about a single server scenario; however, I thought i might help to clarify how this relates to clustering as well in the same thread.  See below for clarification from the supported platforms documentation:

"The total number of node ports is additive...but the total number of users supported is  applicable only to the primary server."

Hailey,

Great points here my friend! (+5)

You're so right it's not really a "double the servers-double the fun!" scenario

Thanks for filling in the blanks here.

Cheers!
