Hi,
I have a BRI interface configured as the following:
interface BRI0/0/0
no ip address
snmp trap link-status
isdn switch-type basic-net3
isdn point-to-point-setup
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager service mgcp
isdn static-tei 0
Layer 2 drops every 50 seconds and then comes straight up again. the carrier tells me that the reason it does this, is because on their side its configured as a Point to Multipoint circuit and the dropping of Layer 2 every 50 seconds is normal behavior.
I've never seen this before or heard of it doing this. Can anyone confirm?
There is no impact on the customer, they seem to make and recieve calls no problem. Once a call is active, the Layer 2 stays up just fine.
The only issue here is receiving alerts every 50 seconds for Layer 2 going down. we cannot turn off the snmp notification as we'll need to know if Layer 2 fails in the case of a genuine fault.
Has anyone seen this behavior before with the drops every 50 seconds?

Daniel,
As fas I know, this is normal. Layer 2 and Layer 3 comes up when a new call is negotiated.

Daniel,
If they are using point to multi-point but you are trying to
use point to point
interface BRI0/0/0
no ip address
snmp trap link-status
isdn switch-type basic-net3
isdn point-to-point-setup
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager service mgcp
isdn static-tei 0
For VOICE working to a gateway you need to ask
them to reconfigure to POINT TO POINT
Regards,
Alex.
