Hi guys,
I'm about to connect NEC handsets to a 2960s access switches. My goal is to have the NEC phones boot up in the voice VLAN specified with the 'switchport voice vlan x' command, without first getting an IP address or broadcasting in the 'data/access' VLAN.
I've used CDP to achieve this with Cisco phones previously. is it as simple as enabling LLDP on a Cisco switch to achieve the same thing with NEC phones?
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# lldp run
Switch(config)# end
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/1
Switch(config-if)# lldp transmit
Switch(config-if)# lldp receive
Switch(config-if)# end

They basically do the exact same thing , what you have there above should be fine
white paper differences and similarities of how both CDP and LLDP work between the 2 features
