Can I do Backup and restore in order to migrate to the new system or is there another way this should be done?
Thanks in advance. All replies rated/

Yes, you can run the DRS on the existing system (7.1.2) and then install 7.1.2 on a VMWare Environment, do a DRS restore, upgrade that to 9.1.2 and then perform a DRS Backup and perform a Fresh install of the 9.1.2 on VMWare and perform a restore.
More over, before you start the migration, make sure you use LCU utility (available for download on cisco.com) and all your licenses are counted and verified more over, open a Lic TAC SR and make sure you all the license part has been completed BEFORE you complete the migration, otherwise you will have to jump many hoops

Thanks. That's not an option for me. What about BAT? Can I export then import?

Yes, but you'll need to manually adjust all the files before you can import them into any other release. You'll need to add/remove settings as required before another release accepts them.
