Migration from physical CUCM 4.1(3) to virtualized 8.6(1a)

Hello,

we would like to migrate from a physical CUCM 4.1(3) to a virtualized 8.6(1a), without "touching" the physical CUCM (except for the installation of DMA 7.1(3) to have the backup for the intermediate CUCM 7.1(3)), so that, in case of problems with new CUCM, we still have the working old CUCM.

What's the right migration path? Physical-virtualized-virtualized or physical-physical-virtualized?

In other words, can I make the intermediate step (CUCM 7.1(3)) on the final virtual machine, even if it isn't officilally supported? Or do I have to necessarily use another physical machine for that step?

TIA and regards.

Hello,

I have done it before , you can do it (Physical-VM-VM).

Are you planning to use a new IP's for the new CUCM's or the same IP's , if you are planning to use the same IP's , i suggest to install the 7.1.5 (not 7.1.3) because from there you can go directly to 8.6 and also you can troubleshoot the system before brining it online.

Check this formus , it's already active and i think you can have alot of things that can be useful.

Dear Amer,

thanks for both you answers.

What do you mean with "if you are planning to use the same IP's , i suggest to install the 7.1.5 (not 7.1.3) because [...] you can troubleshoot the system before brining it online."?

Regards.

Hello,

What i mean , when you are going to use the DMA on the new machine , do you want to set the IP for the 7.1.5 CUCM is the same IP that is now running on the CCM 4 ?

Amer

Amer,

at the moment, I don't know if the IP Address will be the same or another one.

Could you explain me the differences between the two scenarios, please?

Regards.
