Dear All
I have one existing unity server version 4.0 build 4.0(5) and i have new server for unity conn 9.x with CD's , and I read this link
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/9x/upgrade/guide/9xcucrug020.html , becasue this is the first time to upgrade the unity , i have many questions :
as i understand , the steps that i have to follow :
Unity 4.0--> upgrade to 1.2 ---> then take the backup by Disester tool and COBRA tool then ---> uograde it to 8.x ---> then 9.x
My Question :
1) it is necessary to upgrade from 1.2 to 8.x , if yes and what is the version exactly in version 8.X ex: (8.1 or 8.2) ?
-2) can i go directly to 9.x without go to 1.2 then 8.x ? becasue i have one unity server , if i follow these steps i need downtime at lease one day , and i cant make the existing server down for long time , if there is another way with one or two hour down time ?
-3) in the link , there is two issues
:
Note the following:
•If you want to reuse the licenses of Connection 1.x on Connection 9.x, see the Reusing Connection Licenses section.
•If you want to use new licenses for Connection 9.x, see the Using New Connection Licenses section.
which one i will take in my senario ?
4) this Cobra link
http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS.html
my question is
in my senario , which one the export i will take and which one the import i will take

Hi there,
I'm sorry, I have not done this migration myself, but I
do think you would be following the process listed here;
Migrating from Cisco Unity 4.x and Later to Cisco Unity Connection 9.x by Using a Flash Cutover
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/9x/upgrade/guide/9xcucrug022.html
This would eliminate any need for moving to Connection 1.x or 8.x
Cheers!
Rob
