MWI issue

I have the following set up

Analog phone on VG202 port with extension 4248

7965 phone with primary extension 4243 and second button ext 4248

I have CUC voicemail o the 4243 extension, but not on the 4248 ext.

I have alternate extension for 4248 set on voicemail box for 4243

I also have alternate MWI for 4248.

Users state that when a voicemail is received on ext 4248 they will get the MWI for 4248 on the analog phone but they do not always get MWI on the 7965 desk phone, they only get it on the 7965 phone sporadically.

Can someone advise why this is not always lighting MWI on the 7965??

That’s not really how it works - I would observe it in person . You can review the webpage on the phone for MWI status if it’s primary line , and ensure (sccp integration) the mwi on dial string works. If it’s not primary , then ensure light and prompt set on the extension. Other lines don’t light the lamp by default.

In my history with my org’s system, ~10k phones across multiple generations, we’ve had 2 with a bad MWI LED.

Far less likely is that you have ports for MWI dial that are misconfigured but that impacts more than one user.
