Hi,
We need to setup a permanent VOIP call through two cisco 2801 routers. I have one cisco VIC3-2e/m installed in each router and I have setup
a trunk using the "connection trunk" command between 2 corresponding ports on those routers. I used the "show voice call summary" command
to verify that the trunk is up.
Can anyone tell me how I can connect our telephony devices to the vic3 cards? It mentions on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/interfaces/ic/hardware/installation/guide/2port_EM_VIC.html that the vic3 has RJ48C ports,
which has RX on pin 1 and 2 and TX on pin 4,5. Our audio equipment uses 4-wire audio. Would the RX on the RJ48C port connect to the TX pair on
our audio equipment (the mic) and would the TX on the RJ48C connect to the RX on our side (the speaker)?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Regards,
Ben

You are probably going to configure a Type-I E&M port. The wiring schematic for this is here:
Essentially, wire the telephony device's audio's tip to 5, and ring to 4. Pin 7 goes to the devices e-lead (if applicable) and pin 2 goes to the m-lead (if applicable).
You can configure 'lmr e-lead sieze' to make the gateway always seize the line, and 'lmr m-lead inactive' to ignore the m-lead.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the 2801 router does not support lmr at all (it is the only router of the 2800 series not to support it) so I cannot use those commands. We don't really use m-lead and e-lead, is there any other way to tell the router to ignore those and just send audio both ways?
thanks
