Placing phone calls on hold to make intercom call

Hi,

I'm having an issue where a person currenly on a call would like to place the call on hold to make an intercom call. However after placing the call on hold and making the intercom call upon returning to to call that was placed on hold the call has been ended. I have already troubleshooting whether the call is being placed on hold correcty. What could be the issue?

what happens if you put a call on hold and make "a normal" second call on that phone, i.e. a second call to another phone.?

what about transfers? do they work?

Placing calls on hold to make other calls and call transfers both work. The issue of the call being dropped only occurs when a call is placed on hold to contact the manager via intercom to see if he'd like to take the call. When returning to the caller or attempting to transfer the call the call is dropped
