POE Power problems

Hi,

I have recently installed an IPT solution for a customer. The core switch is a 6509-E. There are 240 POE ports

(WS-X6148A-GE-45AF) with CAC 3000 power supplies. I am using about 150 ports and now when I try to plug a new phone in, I get a system reached its power limit and the phone will not power up. If i unplug a different phone and plug in a new phone it will get power. The phones I am using are 7945. Has anyone come across this issue before.

Error Message is %ILPOWER-5-ILPOWER_NOPOWER_AVAIL:

Any help appreciated?

Derek

I came across a similar issue with a 48port 3750 where the switch is only able to supply power for x amount of phones depending on the model of the phone. You could use the device power packs for the phones if you have them.

7945 requires 12w of power.

Try "show inlinepower" to see poweroutput on that switch

you can also Use the PoE Calculator tool for any such calculations
