Problem with CP-8861 GUI access

Hi,

I have a problem with the SIP-configuration for CP-8861 phones for use with a thirdparty VoIP-provider. I have absolutely no experience with any of this, and although I realize that posts in this community are aimed at professionals, I'd really appreciate it if you could explain it to me like I'm an idiot.

Our company bought the phones from amazon, they currently run sip88xx.12-6-1-0001-668.

The VoIP-provider tells me that I need to access the GUI to set the SIP-config. I've gathered from other threads that the current firmware might not support web GUI. Is there any way I can change/upgrade the firmware to allow GUI access?

The information on upgrade.cisco.com hasn't been really useful (at least to me), as it seems that our phones are running the wrong firmware (not 10-3-1-20) to begin with.

Any help is appreciated. I suspect this has been answered multiple times already, but please keep in mind that I'm absolutely clueless and might have missed the right solution. Thanks!

Yes, you're correct, you needed the phones with -3PCC in the PN, they instead bought phones meant to be used with CUCM without configuration GUI.

Discuss with the vendor swapping/returning those phones and then buy the 3PCC/MPP flavor of the devices.

And yes, you can switch from 3PCC/MPP to Enterprise and viceversa, BUT, unless your Cisco contract includes the licenses for that migration, you will have to pay for those licenses.

All the information for the migration is indeed at upgrade.cisco.com, all the requirements, steps and what PN to buy for the migration.

You found all the right information in your research, but if you go the migration path, there will most likely be an extra cost for every single phone as the license is tied to the MAC address of each device and is a one way only ticket (again, unless your Cisco contract includes them).

If you wish to migrate, follow the steps under Cloud Upgrader in the documentation at upgrade.cisco.com and watch the associated videos with the process.

Thanks a lot Jaime, I'll reach out to the vendor.
